Hi, I'm Ben.
I draw comics and storyboards for a living.
I like sketching, coffee, old movies, action-adventure video games and popping bubble wrap.
Feel free to ask me anything (except the secrets of the universe).
I'm available for freelance/commission work. Just send me a note if interested.

Your style is awesome, and the fact that you're a fellow Manga Studio 5 user is awesome as well. You've got a watcher!

Not much in your gallery, Ben, but what there is is nice to look at.  It's also nice that you bother to mention the tools.  I'm guessing you prefer Manga Studio 5 to Sketchbook Pro with Photoshop?

What's the best for drawing with a tablet?  I'm having a heck of a time just drawing digitally.

It all boils down to preference. Some swear by Photoshop, some by Sketchbook Pro. I like Manga Studio because the brushes feel 'smoother' and easier to control. I think the best thing would be to get trial versions of all the drawing apps and pick the one that feels right...

PS is poor for drawing by any standard.  Has no line stability. It's like using Etch-a-Sketch. I don't see how anyone could swear by it, unless they never learned to draw. lol.
Started collecting and find I can do real drawing in Mischief, which has an infinite canvas and ergonomic, simple interface. Neat little program.  I like it a lot. Sketchbook Pro I tried - found the interface so cumbersome that I can't even remember how the drawing turned out.  I'm hoping Manga Studio will do it for me.  I'll check to see what kind of trial/demo they offer. If it's a bust, then Mischief will be the one.  Unfortunately the demo doesn't have layers, so it's not something I can use as is.  (But that's the whole point of a demo, isn't it?)
Have you tried Corel Draw?  Does that still exist?  If so, does it compare to Manga Studio?

BTW - I see that you are all digital, so you do your drawing digitally with a tablet? or with a Cintiq?

Anyway, thanks for the reply.  I appreciate the info. :)

Mischief is good. Gave it a spin a couple of months back and really liked the infinite canvas concept.
I've tried Corel Draw. It's not bad, but I feel Manga Studio has a better brush engine, especially for inking.
Yeah, I'm all digital these days (nature of the job). I use a number of tablets: Cintiq at the office, Kingtee at home and an Intuos Pro on the road.
What kind of tablet are you currently using?
